Nobody tells you this when you start a business.
You assume confidence will come with experience.
That eventually you’ll reach a point where you know exactly what you’re doing.
You’ll make decisions faster.
Second-guess yourself less.
Feel more certain.
And sometimes you do.
But not always.
There are still decisions that make you wonder if you’re making the right call.
Still nights when you replay a conversation in your head.
Still moments when someone else’s success makes you question your own.
Still days when you think...
“Should I really be the one doing this?”
Even when you’ve already proven that you can.
I think we misunderstand confidence sometimes.
We think confident people don’t doubt themselves.
But I don’t think that’s true.
I think they’ve just learned how to keep moving while the doubt is still there.
Because owning a business means making decisions without always knowing how they’ll turn out.
There’s no answer key.
No boss standing behind you telling you that you chose correctly.
Sometimes you make the best decision you can with the information you have...
and then you wait.
That uncertainty can make even experienced business owners question themselves.
Especially when the decision affects employees.
Customers.
Money.
Your family.
Your future.
Of course you’re going to think about it.
You care.
But questioning yourself doesn’t erase everything you already know.
It doesn’t erase the hard decisions you’ve made before.
The problems you’ve figured out.
The mistakes you survived.
Or all the things you’ve learned along the way.
You don’t need to feel 100% certain before you trust yourself.
Sometimes you just have to look at everything that got you here...
and remember that you’ve figured things out before.
You probably will again.
Nobody tells business owners this.
You can be good at what you do...
and still have moments when you wonder if you are.
Confidence doesn’t always sound like:
“I know exactly what I’m doing.”
Sometimes it sounds more like:
“I don’t know exactly how this will turn out...
but I trust myself to handle what comes next.”
